In the wake of a crucial victory at the Qatar Grand Prix, the Red Bull driver has dramatically reduced the margin in the championship standings. He is now positioned just twelve points behind leader McLaren's Lando Norris and leading teammate his McLaren rival, everything is in place for a nail-biting three-way season finale at the iconic Yas Marina Circuit.

The incredible part of Verstappen's late-season charge particularly notable is how far he has come back. After the Zandvoort round in August, he was an enormous over a century of points behind the then-leader Oscar Piastri and had openly dismissed his title chances.

The turnaround began with major car developments introduced by his team at the Monza. Adjustments to the car's floor and front wing finally addressed ongoing handling problems, allowing Verstappen to push to the limit with the car once more.

Since that point, his performance has been nothing short of formidable, racking up five wins and several top-three finishes. He was eager to praise the collective effort behind this success.

"We've won races where maybe we shouldn't have, by making the optimal strategy as a group," he explained. "My collaboration with my team on the pit wall and the every member... we are really well integrated."

The Stakes for a Unforgettable Finale.

Ahead of the arrive in Abu Dhabi, the mathematics is crystal clear.

• Lando Norris will claim his maiden world title if he outpaces both his two rivals or achieves a top-three position.
• Max Verstappen must win and hope that Norris finishes off the podium.
• Oscar Piastri, trailing by 16 points, has to win the race and see Norris end up no higher than sixth.

The intensity rests heavily on McLaren, who have watched a comfortable advantage slip away due to costly errors, including a twin DSQ in Las Vegas. In his view, the situation creates an atmosphere of freedom, turning the ultimate Grand Prix into a pure opportunity to attack with everything to gain.
