Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
