Beloved Actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Appearances in The Middle and Friends, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.

Stateside performer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic programs such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at 60 years old.

The skilled improv artist died at home in LA this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, according to news outlets.

"He considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his relatives stated in a message.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

An Extensive Career on Screen

His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the lead character's sibling.

He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a host famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several hit series, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • "That '70s Show"
  • "House"

His most famous role for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Beyond his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was involved with a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.

"He coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils during his career and it would be difficult to find anyone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, fellow actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote publicly.

Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
